Gim or Gin is a distilled beverage made from cereals like corn, wheat and barley; and juniper; being later flavored with juniper, whose essential oil imparts flavor to the drink; or flavorings such as cassia, orange, almond, lily or poplar, with the aim to transmit different flavors. Considered a strong drink, with an alcohol content ranging between 43% and 47%, Gin originated in the Netherlands in the seventeenth century. It is the addition of distilled water that will help to reduce the high alcohol content.
