2016 Mouchão Red Wine
Mouchão Red it is a portuguese red wine made predominantly from Alicante Bouschet with a small percentage of Trincadeira and vinified in lagares. Mouchão is a full, deep coloured Alentejo wine with its concentration and spiciness of the Alicante Bouschet combined with the elegance of the Trincadeira and a tannic structure which enables the development in bottle for which it is so well known.
It is the most emblematic wine of Herdade do Mouchão. It is designed based on the Alicante Bouschet variety, which found in Herdade do Mouchão a “terroir” of choice and which gives it a unique character. The blend of this grape variety complemented with Trincadeira gives it greater exoticism and elegance. After fermentation in wine presses, the wine ages 24 months in 5,000 liter casks of Portuguese oak, macacaúba and mahogany, and then another 24 to 36 months in bottle. Mouchão wine has a deep, concentrated color, a spicy character and its unique tannin structure enhances long aging in the bottle.
