A LITTLE OF HISTORY
The Origin Designation Douro arose only in 1982, however the landscape of this region had been marked for more than two centuries and is unmistakable. The plots are presented in schist and naturally inclined, however, have been adapted for the cultivation of vines through the work of the human hand and over many generations. Through these actions and their hallmarks, the Douro has become one of the most impressive wine regions in the world, where there is the greatest number of varieties permitted in a single region for wines with denomination of origin, finding themselves divided into three subregions: Baixo Corgo, Cima Corgo and Douro Superior.

Vila Real District: Municipalities of Mesão Frio, Peso da Régua and Santa Marta de Penaguião, part of Municipalities of Alijó, Murça, Sabrosa and Vila Real. Viseu Disctrit, part of Municipalities of Armamar, Lamego, Resende, São João da Pesqueira and Tabuaço. Coincident with the denominated region for the production of wine with a geographical indication Douro.
